Child health problems are shocking and alarming throughout the world and especially so in the developing countries. Expert and empathetic approach is essentials to minimize these problems and to reduce the inexcusable causes of childhood morbidity, mortality and disability.
A pediatric nurse is the key person in child care team. It is expected that a pediatric nurse should have competence and good judgement based upon specialized and up to date knowledge, skill and attitude. A nurse should be enriched to understand the problems of children and to help them whenever needed. So the pediatric nurse needs special preparation in child health issues to contribute towards a healthy child and a productiveand creative future individual.
Being a teacher of a Pediatric Nursing, I felt the need for a textbook on Pediatric Nursing covering all levels (PCL to Master) of nursing students.I decided to undertake this task in spite of my hard and busy work schedule.
This book is in full accordance with the syllabus as recommended by Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine, and Maharajgunj Nursing Campus. It is also expected that the book will be helpful to the nurses of different levels working in different clinical areas to review and their knowledge and practice in different aspects of childcare. I believe it will contribute to develop confi dence in them.
